#ownvoices – Diversity in YA

When it comes to diversity, teen fiction often leads the way in #ownvoices. Across a landscape that takes us through flights of fantasy, star-crossed romances, pace-driven thrillers and the blisteringly contemporary, writers of colour have been carving their way. The verse novel, a sub-genre on the up, was pioneered and perfected by black writers and POC. Here we’ve collected some of the best, the bravest, and our favourites.
