Set in Florida, climate change is upon us and a luminous baby girl is born in the midst of a devastating hurricane. Named Wanda, after that terrible storm, she faces a future we would rather not contemplate, in a world where nature reclaims the land and humans must adapt or die. A beautiful, wild and elemental tale that was a finalist for the Dayton Literary Peace Prize. This is a “symphony of beauty and heartbreak” and, ultimately, of hope. – Sue
