Mr B's review
Our book-loving pal 8 year-old Alice Leonard wrote to us with her rave review of Caravan at the Edge of Doom. Here’s what she had to say –
“This book is about a girl named Harley, who returns to her Grandparents’ caravan one evening to find that they have passed through ‘the portal of doom’ (the caravan’s toilet!) to the Land of the Dead, mistakenly taking her baby brother, Malcolm, with them. Harley must pass through the portal (which involves drinking some special tea and using the caravan toilet) to save her brother. She isn’t sure she can save her brother, but Harley turns out to be a big heroine in the Land of the Dead.
This book is very exciting, funny and silly. My favourite part of the book was when Harley’s Nana gives Harley the job of helping restless souls pass through the portal of doom because Harley said “Thanks for the biscuit. I don’t think I want the spooky toilet though.” My favourite character is Olly, Harley’s loyal sidekick. He always has a cheery song for when Harley is feeling down and he sticks by her the whole way through the journey.”

Well, they were. But there’s no time to mourn their passing. Because Harley’s baby brother has accidentally gone with them to the Land of the Dead. And Harley only has 24 hours to rescue him before he’s trapped there FOREVER!
