Our approach to privacy
Mr B’s takes your privacy very seriously. This notice is to explain our online information practices and the options you have in relation to how we use any information that you provide us with. This note is available at the foot of every page on our website for your ease of reference.
How we collect information
This notice applies to all information collected or submitted on the Mr B’s Emporium Ltd website. On some pages, you can order products, make enquiries, reserve places at events, complete questionnaires and register to receive our newsletter. On these pages we might collect the following information:
· Your full name
· Your address
· Your e-mail address
· Your phone number
It’s worth noting that for your security when you purchase a product through our website we do not retain your credit card information. Instead that information passes directly from you to our online payment processor. Our online payment processor is Stripe. We have reviewed their privacy policy and satisfied ourselves that it aligns with our own but if you’d like to review it for yourself then please read it at https://stripe.com/gb/privacy
How we use information
When you order something on our website we only use the information that you provide us with to complete that order. We never share this information with any other person or entity except in order to complete your order.
When you give us your email address for the purpose of an enquiry or order we will reply to that email address but we will not share it with anyone other person or entity and we will not use it for any other purpose.
On our website you can choose to sign-up to our newsletter using your email address. We will use that email address only for that purpose and will not share it with any other person or entity other than with Mailchimp which is the entity we partner with to take care of the technical dispatch of our newsletters. We will not sign you up to that newsletter unless you expressly make that choice. Mailchimp have their own privacy policy that describes how they use data obtained from anyone signing up to our newsletter. We have reviewed that policy and it aligns with our own approach but the section on “Privacy for Contacts” can be viewed here – https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/
If you subscribe to our Mr B’s Reading Subscription you can choose to complete a questionnaire about your reading tastes which is embedded within our website. We use the answers to choose the right books for you, and send those books to the right place, for the duration of the questionnaire. The questionnaire software is powered by Typeform S.L. though your data is controlled only by us. We have reviewed Typeform’s privacy policy and satisfied ourselves that it aligns to our own, but you can read it yourself here – https://admin.typeform.com/to/dwk6gt. The section relating to Typeform respondents will be particularly relevant.
We keep your personal information only for as long as required for the purposes for which it’s supplied or for as long as legally required. Where your information is no longer required, we will always make sure it is disposed of in a safe and secure manner.
Data security
We have internal rules in place at Mr B’s in order to prevent unauthorised access to any information we collect online and to maintain the security and correct use of the data and information we collect.
We never collect or maintain information at our website from those we actually know are under the age of 13.
Confirming or amending personal information
You can check, delete and amend, all your personally identifiable information that we have collected online and retained by emailing us at books@mrbsemporium.com. To protect your privacy and maintain security we will take steps to confirm your identity before granting access to the information we have collected or permitting any amendments. If you are a repeat customer to our website you will have the chance to amend your retained personal details whenever logging-in to our website. When you do log-in to our website you will be required to confirm a password that you have previously created.
If you have previously signed up to our newsletter but no longer wish to receive it then please email books@mrbsemporium.com. In addition each time we send a newsletter you will be given the opportunity to unsubscribe.
Cookies
Cookies are small files that contain information that are transferred to your computer’s hard drive. We use them rarely but we do use them when beneficial for your online shopping experience, for example in relation to the log-in process and during the purchase process on our website where the use of cookies speeds up return visits and helps provide us with information about the shopping cart and identify any changes. No personal information is stored within these cookies.
