Are you taking part in our Book Bingo? As we hit the halfway point for 2026 (how? HOW???), we’re asking our booksellers to tell us which categories they’ve already ticked off, and which categories they’ve still got left…
So let’s take a look at what some of the Mr B’s gang have been reading!
Laura K, our wildcard reader, is impossble to predict: no one can guess what she’ll pick up next! With fiction from around the world, set in Tokyo, Mallorca, New York, and (of course!) L.A., Laura K’s list features ghosts falling in love and haunted memoirs, ecological crises and aqueducts, a fair share of familial dysfunction, and a Great Dane.
Then we’ve got Kate, whose superb taste spans genres, but who always finds herself drawn back towards a family drama! Here, there’s plenty, from brand new novels from American titans Ann Patchett and Elizabeth Strout, European summers spent with Elif Shafak and Rachel Joyce, venturing to desolate shores with Malachy Tallack and Charlotte McConaghy, and, of course, returning always to the beloved Miriam Toews, whose novel All My Puny Sorrows (AMPS for short!) is one of Kate’s all time favourites.
