Are you taking part in our Book Bingo? As we hit the halfway point for 2026 (AGH!), we’re checking in with a few of our booksellers to see how they’re getting on with ticking off the categories…

So let’s have a look at what some of the B’s gang have been reading!
Laura GM, our resident guru of all things translated fiction, has been reading around the world with translated novels from Chile, Bulgaria, France, Germany, and Korea. She’s been out West with Larry McMurtry, spent some time in Ireland with Paul Murray and Colin Walsh, and solved some supernatural crimes with Leigh Bardugo and James Allistair Henry.

Next up we’ve got Sôffi, our lover of all fiction weird and wacky! Expect talking rats down and out in 1970s Paris, an amuse-bouche of haunted house horror, a woman who’s fallen in love with a plane, and narrative non-fic exploring the collapse of a relationship… all in the top row of the book bingo alone!

To finish up, here’s a look at how I’m ticking off the book bingo. You’d think coming up with the categories would make choosing what to read for them easier, huh?

I’m on a classics kick this year (trying to read 12 in 12 months!), so you can expect a more-than-expected amount of pre 20th-century fiction – but also the usual essay collections, celeb memoirs, and (of course!) plenty of romance!
Thanks for reading – we hope you have fun ticking off the categories, and that this bingo sheet inspires some excellent new reads!
