Seascape by Matthew Yeomans

Matthew explores the Wales coast path over a series of walks told chapter by chapter. He walks across this changeful landscape and muses on the cultural identity, history and environmental future of Wales.
Some of the coast gives Matthew a chance to revisit childhood holiday destinations, and share the path with friends. For some of it, he is alone with the landscape and the stories he uncovers.

His research is accessible and interesting: dipping into Welsh legends, history of the villages and castles he passes and more recent industrial heritage. He also looks forward and discusses migration, tourism, and the impacts of climate change. For example, during one stretch of the walk, he is researching a new route for the coast path which may escape land erosion and rising seas for as long as possible.
I think this book is highly enjoyable for anyone who likes putting on their own walking boots and spending time at the beautiful Welsh coast.
