Here at Mr B’s, we’re lucky enough to work with lots of fantastic local businesses – from collaborating with the Bath Theatre Royal on their literary lunch programme to buying out the entire stock of chocolate brownies from our friends at The Colombian Company each morning (they’re for our Reading Spa customers, we promise!).

This year we’ve embarked on an exciting new partnership with No.15 Great Pulteney Street: a luxurious and quirky hotel in the centre of Bath. In addition to a beautiful room, a mouthwatering cocktail and dinner menu and a relaxing spa, guests who check into certain suites at No.15 are now offered a complimentary book chosen by Mr B’s. On arrival, they’ll discover a gift-wrapped book resting on their pillow hand-picked by our team to suit their reading tastes.

We’re also extremely proud to be working with No.15 on their intriguing new events. In their stunning dispensary themed restaurant, the hotel will offer a programme of exciting literary events with author talks, accompanied by classy nibbles and drinks, and of course, books.

First on the agenda is a visit from award-winning scientist, Mark Miodownik, whose fascinating book, Stuff Matters: The Strange Stories of the Marvellous Materials that Shape Our Man-made World, sheds a whole new light on the objects that we all take for granted everyday. It was the winner of the 2014 Royal Society Winton Prize for Science Books, was a Mr B’s favourite and one of our bestselling non-fiction books of all time. Mark’s new book promises to be just as absorbing and thrilling as his first, and what’s more it’s the perfect fit for our curiosity-seeking friends at No.15…

Liquid with Mark Midownik
Monday 22nd October, 6:30pm at No.15 Great Pulteney Street.

Sometimes dangerous, often delightful, and always fascinating, discover the secret lives of liquids from one of our best-known scientists, Mark Miodownik. In his new book LiquidMiodownik unlocks the mysterious properties of the slippery, dark, explosive, delicious and poisonous liquids that airport security are rightly worried about and that we have come to rely on.

If you’re in possession of the sort of analytical mind that thrives on fascinating scientific facts, then Miodownik brings them alive in a captivating new way, revealing why liquids flow up a tree and how to make the perfect cup of tea. Bring friends or come on your own for an insightful evening on the substances that flow through our lives in the atmospheric surrounds of The Dispensary.

Tickets cost £25 to include a drink on arrival, No.15 snacks and a copy of the book.
