Meet one hundred of the world’s most fascinating creatures that live their wild lives under the stars in Creatures of Darkness by Dani Robertson. Each animal is introduced with its key facts, an illustration and a couple of pages about its lifestyle and behaviour. I was surprised and delighted by the countless ecological niches these creatures are using, how the most elusive animals end up with strange stories and what energetic lives are thriving whilst the rest of the world sleeps. The species are from across the world, including some I knew nothing about and some that are familiar to any British wildlife enthusiast. The writing is interesting and often amusing, making it a perfect night time read for fans of The Golden Mole.
