Tom’s Guide To The Best Crime Fiction of 2023

It has been a spectacular year for crime fiction. These are among my many standouts.

There have been great new novels from some of my all-time favourites, such as S. A. Cosby, Dennis Lehane and Don Winslow. A smattering of excellent continuations of series from Steve Cavanagh and Chris Offutt. And, most exciting of all, some new and emerging writers produced some real bangers, particularly Jake Lamar’s Viper’s Dream, Matthew Richardson’s The Scarlet Papers, Morgan Audic’s Good Reasons to Die, and Age of Vice, the first in an exciting trilogy from Deepti Kapoor.
