Christopher Somerville joins the Paperback Ramblers
Wed 27 Oct 2021
2:00pm at Lansdown Park and Ride (sign up to the walk to receive details of transport links and walking route, one week ahead of the event)
We’re really excited to welcome Christopher Somerville to the final Paperback Ramblers meeting of the year!
Christopher Somerville is Walking Correspondent at The Times, and author of some 40 books, many about his travels on foot in various parts of the world. You can find a small selection of them in this list: https://mrbsemporium.com/shop/book-lists/christopher-somerville/
The Paperback Ramblers is Mr B’s walking book group, a book group specially designed for people who can’t sit still for too long. We walk in good company and chat about books.
Christopher will join the walk, chat with readers, and give readings from his latest book ‘The View from the Hill: Four Seasons in a Walker’s Britain’.
‘The View from the Hill’ pulls together years of Somerville’s walks in the British countryside, following the cycle of the seasons from a freezing January on the Severn Estuary to the sight of sunrise on Christmas morning from inside a prehistoric burial mound. In between are hundreds of walks to discover randy natterjack toads in a Cumbrian spring, trout in a Hampshire chalk stream in lazy midsummer, a lordly red stag at the autumn rut on the Isle of Mull, and three thousand geese at full gabble in the wintry Norfolk sky.
Please sign up to the walk using the form. If you’ve got any questions about the walk, e-mail Sam at email@example.com
