‘The Lost Future of Pepperharrow’ with Natasha Pulley
Tue 10 Mar 2020
7:00pm at Mr B's
Tickets include author interview and signing, a glass of wine and a 15% discount on any books in the shop on the night.
Natasha Pulley’s debut, ‘The Watchmaker of Filigree Street’ and her second novel ‘The Bedlam Stacks’ were both major favourites with our Emma, Amy and Rhian. Unsurprisingly, a whole hoard of Mr B’s readers were eagerly waiting for the follow-up from this imaginative writer!
A direct sequel set five years post-Watchmaker of Filigree Street, The Lost Future of Pepperharrow follows Thaniel and Mori, with Six and Katsu in tow, to Meiji-era-Japan. In true Natasha Pulley style, this is a staggeringly original concept with an ingeniously subtle plot that explodes into clarity. Pulley invites you into a version of history that is meticulously researched and masterfully tense, where possible futures flit across Tokyo like ghosts. Thaniel can trust nobody, least of all himself, and maybe not even Mori. ‘The Lost Future of Pepperharrow’ is at heart a steampunk-style meshing of magic and science, seasoned with a sprinkling of political scandal and a generous dose of queer romance.
We’re delighted to welcome Natasha to the shop and hope you will join us for an evening of the most entertaining, original storytelling.
This event has been sponsored by our friends at Castle Farm, who generously contributed to our crowdfunding initiative to help expand Mr B’s back in early 2019. Castle Farm is a restaurant in an upcycled tractor shed just south of Bath, in Midford. Apart from delicious food, fresh cinnamon buns and the best Roundhill Roastery coffee, guests can visit the shop, wander the organic gardens and take in the spectacular views of the Midford Valley.
