*Halloween Special* Dark Tales for Darker Nights
Tue 15 Oct 2019
7:00pm at Mr B's
Ticket includes a glass of wine, author interview and book signing and 15% off all books on the night. If you are purchasing a student ticket please bring student ID with you on the night.
Specially curated by the Mr B’s team, this is a rare opportunity to listen to three incredible, bold writers, coming together for one evening to discuss their experiences of tapping into fear, darkness and myth in their writing.
Kirsty Logan makes her return to Mr B’s with ‘Things We Say in the Dark’, an eerie collection of dark feminist stories. In Julie Mayhew’s adult debut novel ‘Impossible Causes’, we’re taken to the remote island of Lark – a place wreathed in fog for most of the year, with an almost exclusively female population and plenty of traces from its Celtic heritage. Joining them is debut novelist Lucie McKnight Hardy whose novel ‘Water Shall Refuse Them’, set during the 1976 heatwave, follows a family who move to a remote Welsh village to escape their grief.
Join us for a night of stories that can’t be told in the light of day, as we explore isolated communities rife with suspicions of witchcraft, heatwaves and domestic claustrophobia, and women’s fears in both violence and desire.
