Barney Norris has to be one of the most exciting young voices in books right now. Already an award-winning playwright at the age of just 32, his debut novel “Five Rivers met on a Wooded Plain”, became a Times bestseller (and earned him a place on our Sam’s favourites shelf) and his second novel – “Turning for Home”, was steeped in universal praise.
Now Barney has a captivating new novel on the horizon. “The Vanishing Hours” is a vivid tale of adventure which begins (rather surprisingly!) in the hotel bar of a sleepy English town. A woman seeking refuge and reflection from a life shaken by heartbreak, finds her relative peace interrupted by a man brimming with stories. From the blustery cliffs of Dover to the confines of a dark prison cell; from the courtroom witness box to the West End stage, we join him as he slips through time.
“The Vanishing Hours” is a story of two surprising characters, loaded with compassion, twists and dream-like prose, which has already been devoured and adored by Mr B’s Kate and Sam. We are thrilled to welcome Barney to Bath this September to tell us (and you) all about it.
Barney will be joined by our Bookshop Band who will perform and original music inspired by ‘The Vanishing Hours!’
