Here at Mr B’s, we love Halloween! Even though it is by far not the only acceptable time to read spooky books, it is the best time to celebrate them, so that is exactly what we are doing through the whole month of October! We have events lined up for every age group, from story times, to a Halloween Party, to an eerie Time Slip Teen event! Find out about all our Kids and Teen Halloween events below:
Up first, we have a wonderfully witchy story time on Saturday October 5th with acclaimed illustrator (and author) Steven Lenton, best known for his stories with Tracey Corderoy – Shifty McGifty! Steven will be illustrating our window before hosting a story time and drawalong for his new picture book, authored by Helen Docherty, The Green-Fingered Witch! Reserve your place here.
On Sunday October 27th, our annual Halloween Party is back with two fantastically spooky authors hosting activities to bring their books to life. Sophie Kirtley, author of The Wild Way Home and The Haunting of Fortune Farm, and Clare Harlow, author Tidemagic, will join us from 2 -4 pm for an afternoon of crafts, candy, books, and costumes! This is a drop in event, no set start time. Just let us know you’ll be coming by here.
During the week of half term, we’ll be hosting a little in shop contest…if you know Mr B’s, you know that we love our four-legged friends! So for the chance to win a bundle of 3 autumnal books, we’d absolutely LOVE for you to bring your pets into the shop throughout the week dressed in their best Halloween costumes. We’ll snap their picture, enter them (and their owners) into our drawing, and notify the winner on Halloween!
Finally, for our teen readers, we’re so happy to welcome Liz Hyder back to the shop to celebrate her eerie, timeslip novel The Twelve!
